Adrian Mira, besides his various works as a sideman, lately has been focusing on his original music and produced his first CD "Acoustic Journeys" as a leader in 2010. The CD contains 12 tracks by Adrian Mira and was recorded in New York City, featuring great New York City based musicians . Some tunes of the CD are in trio format (clarinet/sax, guitar, bass), others with additional percussion in quartet format. The compositions show the many influences that he has been exposed to - one can hear jazz, classical, Indian, French, Brazilian, far eastern, Klezmer and other stylistic influences. Most forms of the pieces are clearly structured, warm sounding, melodic, intimate yet lively and versatile, with occasional odd meters. Acoustic Journeys - a fascinating and touching musical experience . Adrian Mira: clarinet, alto saxophone, compositions. Francis Jacob: guitar. Clay Schaub: upright bass. George Mel: percussion (special guest).
Below you will find excerpts of all 12 tunes (not full tracks) . You can also preview the CD and purchase it at the various online stores listed on front page, or you can go the the "Shop" page. Thank you!

2nd CD of World Jazz Group "Kamala". I was the clarinetist/saxophonist in that band for many years. Kamala performed at various jazz festivals and many other concerts. "Indian Songbook" is available on Brambus Records. Kamala is blending South Indian bhajan melodies (praise songs) with jazz and other contemporary styles in a more acoustic setting than the 1st Kamala-CD "Orientalspacejazz". For your convenience I put up selected excerpts of all 7 recorded tunes below. Musicians: Bruno Steffen (piano, arrangements, compositions), Adrian Mira (clarinet, alto saxophone) Lenz Huber (upright bass), Andy Oswald (drums)

Bruno Steffen's Instrumental Bhajans
Lurking Loops: Between those worlds
Lurking Loops creates impressions of a contemporary, meditative urbanness. The music is inspired by of the many trips to the East by the band's composer and pianist, Bruno Steffen, who also brings his experience as a improviser, composer of film music, jazz musician and singer of Indian devotional songs (bhajans). There are relaxed grooves containing Indian tabla (drums), polyrhythmic patterns with subtle complexity, as well as lyrical melodies, improvising, sequenced synthesizer loops, oriental samples and the sound of the clear voice of the band's vocalist, Sarah Abrigada. For LURKING LOOPS getting a good orchestral group sound is more important than just the individual performances of the brilliant soloists. It's the music for the imaginary movie.
